The Settlers

Sunday, March 18, 2:00 PM
Goldstein Auditorium, Springfield JCC, Springfield

Cameras go inside the reclusive West Bank settlements for an up-close and personal look at the controversial movement at the center of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Viewed by some as righteous vanguards of Zionism and by others as overzealous squatters, Jewish settlers have been establishing and expanding outposts in the Occupied Territories ever since Israel’s decisive victory in the 1967 Six-Day War. Condemned by the international community, their presence is seen as an oversized roadblock to the peace process. With unprecedented access, Israeli filmmaker Shimon Dotan immerses himself amongst these little known and often misunderstood people to scrutinize their motives, while intercutting interviews with historical and geopolitical context.

Discussion with Rabbi Amy Wallk Katz, Temple Beth El, Springfield. Screening with Ben-Gurion, Epilogue, with light lunch served between films.
