Selected as Germany’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Oscar, Labyrinth of Lies is an illuminating drama that follows Johann Radmann, a young and idealistic public prosecutor in Berlin, after he takes an interest in a former Auschwitz camp commander now working as a schoolteacher. Radmann is determined to bring the man to justice, but finds his efforts frustrated because many former Nazis now serve in the post-war government and want to forget the past. The award-winnning film is based on true events of the investigations that led to the Frankfurt Auschwitz trials in the 1960s.
“An intelligent and arresting fact-based drama.” —Variety
