Opening Night | Tal Brody in Attendance

On the Map

Saturday, March 18, 8:15 PM
Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Springfield

This mesmerizing documentary tells the against-all-odds story of Israel’s 1977 European Basketball Championship, which took place at a time when the Middle East was still reeling from the 1973 Yom Kippur War and the 1972 Olympic massacre at Munich. Through the lens of sports, On the Map presents a much broader story of how one team captured the heart of a nation amidst domestic turmoil and the global machinations of the Cold War.

Bringing together most of the members of the 1977 Maccabi Tel Aviv team, including magnetic team captain Tal Brody, as well as observers like Bill Walton and former NBA Commissioner David Stern, this powerful documentary gives you a courtside seat to a watershed moment in Israeli history.
